Topfield hat ein nettes Feature mit implementiert, die Topfield API, mit der mal eigene Programme erstellt und in den Receiver geladen werden koennen. Bis jetzt ist alles noch nicht freigegeben, da zu große Sicherheitslücken existieren. Es sind jedoch von Topfield schon ein paar Programme selbst erstellt worden.

MAKEMP3	this toy enables you to select a recording on the TV screen and converts any default sound track to MP3 format and uploads this converted file to a PC over the serial port. Real throughput is somewhere around 40 Kbit/s, so this is not very good for long recordings. There is a similar program working with recordings in a PC (but you have to remove the disk, convert/copy it and then to return it back, the serial is OK for shorter files or one very long file to be transferred overnight). The Ymodem transfer can be done eg. in Hyperterminal.
UPLOAD	uploads raw recording file in the TF proprietary format as found on the TF hard disk. Not good for video (too long to transfer), but for audio conversion on the PC. Generally, the MP3 files are much shorter.
SLIM	reduces the size of recoding file by copying only vital information and omiting whatever is not absolutely necessary (keeps only main video, default audio and minimum system information - ie. PMT and PCR). There is a similar function in the new software to be released by TF later this month, but it is not as agressive in sliming - it leaves much more information in the file such as teletext or other audio channels. Too slow to be practically usable, but it cannot be made any faster over the TAP API.
ANALYZE	analyzes the frequency of TS packets in recordings based on the PID values. Was a way to prove to TF staff that the "bigfile problem" does exist and is not just subjective perception of some users. Hopefully not needed any more.
